Drafts

As part of my enrolment task i had to create a mock up of an article that i may use in my main task of creating my magazine. This was to give me an understanding of where each feature would be placed and to get the general idea of what the course would intake. I feel that by doing this before i started the course i was able to then build on my techniques and skills throughout the course to create a great magazine for my final product. The feedback that i received from my lecturer also enabled me know what i needed to work on in order to get a good mark when creating it for real.

I created a draft of my front cover for my magazine in order for me to have a play around with photo shop and start to learn some of the tools in which it has. It also let me experiment and play around with the creation of my magazine to get the hang of it for when creating my front cover, contents page and double page spread for my final product. Once getting to terms with the tools on the Photoshop software i was then able to know which ones would allow me to create a great magazine that looked professional. Thus was therefore beneficial for creating my final product. it also built my confidence in the software as I hardly had any experience with it. The photo beneath is the Front cover draft in which I created.

Once I had finished the draft I analysed it in order to find elements I like and hated. This would help me create the perfect final product. This was a timed cover that had to be created in just under a lesson and therefore contributed to the points I don't like.
Firstly the things I liked are;
  • The faded image to make the sub lines standout
  • The title of the magazine
  • The sub lines
  • The pugs content
  • place of barcode
  • The layout
The elements I do not like include;
  • The inclusion of blue
  • The shape of the pug
  • Not including a website
  • The fonts
  • The direct mode of address from the model
  • The size of the barcode
  • The spaces between each subline

When creating my final magazine I took these points into consideration and adapted them in order to create a great final product. These will be the improvements I make.

When creating my front cover, contents page and my double page spread I took screenshots of my progress and the different tools in which I used. Here are several of those below.
